Shelley's Story
“Why don’t I have that?!” I wondered as a freshman at Ohio University. I had been a Christian most of my life, yet there was a clear difference in the lives of the Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) students I met at Ohio U. They exuded joy and cared deeply about each other. They spoke about Jesus as if He was their best friend. I knew I didn’t have that. I’d lived out my Christianity as a duty, not as a relationship. I thought I owed God something for all He’d done for me.
The Cru students showed me that I could have a dynamic, intimate relationship with Christ. I began to understand grace, and I learned how to study the Bible. The more I got involved with Cru, the more I gained compassion for other students on my campus who didn’t know Jesus. I learned valuable ministry skills and had multiple opportunities to practice these skills both on campus and on short missions trips.
Upon graduation, I wasn’t sure which career path I wanted to pursue. I discovered an opportunity to try out full-time ministry through an internship with Cru. I joined a team of other recent graduates from the Midwest, and we pioneered a brand new campus ministry at the University of Vermont.
Once I got over the initial culture shock of living in Vermont (I had no idea I could experience culture shock in my own country!) I discovered in my heart a deep burden for the people of New England. In spite of our nation's rich spiritual heritage being founded in New England, the six New England states (NH, VT, ME, RI, MA, CT) are routinely ranked as the bottom six for church attendance and for charitable giving. Today New England has one of the coldest spiritual climates - especially towards Christianity - of any region in the nation. The need for Jesus in this highly independent, non-religious region gripped my heart, and I knew God had a place for me here to reach out with His love. After that intern year I joined the full-time staff of Cru, and have been serving at the University of New Hampshire for the past twelve years.
I am currently one of two directors of the Cru campus movement at the U. of New Hampshire. In addition to teaching, coaching, and nurturing the student leaders of our campus movement, my responsibilities include shepherding our staff team, training new staff women, cultivating and maintaining the funding and prayer support necessary for the campus movement, and setting long-term direction for the movement.

Gary's Story
Growing up in a non-religious family, I rarely heard about God at home. However, I’m so grateful that my parents frequently dropped off my siblings and me at a local church. It was there that I learned that I could have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and my life has never been the same.
As a graduate student at UCLA, I got involved with the Cru movement on campus. It was then that I discovered I didn’t have to wait until post-college to serve the Lord, but could utilize my position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant to share God’s love with many students. I participated in a Cru summer missions project where I learned how to share my faith in Christ with others, and I really saw God use me in powerful ways in the lives of others. I realized then that I wanted to spend my career helping others to know the love of Jesus Christ, so upon graduation I joined the staff of Cru.
I began my career with Cru twenty years ago as campus field staff at UC Berkeley. It was challenging work to reach out to students with the message of Jesus Christ on such a liberal campus. After nine years at Berkeley and one year as campus field staff in Los Angeles, I sensed God calling me to focus more distinctly on my growing technical skills in video production. I moved to Cru’s headquarters in Orlando where I worked as a multi-media specialist for Cru’s campus ministry.
After seven years in Orlando, it was time for a change. I moved back - where I’m originally from - and enjoyed living closer to my family while I worked for the JESUS Film project (also a ministry of Cru) for two years as a video editor. (You can view some of the videos I produced about how God is using the JESUS Film around the world by clicking on the Videos link above.)
When Shelley and I got married, I moved to NH to join her there. I currently serve as a multi-media specialist for the Creative 1 Media Team of the Campus Ministry of Cru. My areas of expertise are videography, photography, and motion graphics.
